SUBMITTING FLYER REQUESTS
A well-written request saves time for everyone and minimizes the need for re-drafts. Before submitting a design request to the Creative Department, be sure to have these essential ingredients:
1. Name of Event – This will be the heart of your promotion. It can be fun (Saved By The Bells) or simple (Super Bowl 52) but it should always be clear to guests what we are promoting.
If you have an idea but don't quite know how to express it, call Dan. He's sorta creative I guess.
2. Date & Time – Please include a date and time to your design requests so guests know when your event is taking place. (ex. “Monday, May 28th 5pm-8pm”). If your event is going on until the end of the evening you can submit, for example, “9pm-close” or “9pm”, without an end time.
3. Specials or Promotions – It is vitally important that you clear all specials or promotions with a general manager before submitting a request. These can include discounted food or beverages. We have to be careful about wording. “$4 Drafts” will be interpreted as applying to all draft beers. “$4 Select Drafts” clears that up without needing to be specific which will give the bar some leverage over which beers are on special.
Nothing is “FREE.” A free product is a cheap product. We can offer a “Complimentary Dessert” or a “Complimentary Appetizer.” This is a company-wide, universal truth. Be sure to clear any “complimentary” promotion with a general manager.
We do not offer “Open Bar.” Similar to offering “free” products, “open bar” gives the impression that everything is available and that is never, ever the case. We can offer “Party Packages” or “Drink Packages”
4. Contact Information and Address – Adding contact information to a promotion makes it easier for guests to book reservations, ask questions, and otherwise interact with us. That is what we want. Personal connections make guests feel welcome, keeps them coming back and recommending our stores to friends.
SUBMITTING NEW MENU REQUESTS
Write out each menu item completely under the appropriate menu section.
Menu Section:
Name of dish - Description - Price
“Bar Standards:
Ten Spiced Wings - house blue cheese, crisp vegetables - $16”
SUBMITTING MENU UPDATES
Fewer tasks induce as much physical and emotional pain as menu updates. There are some quick and easy ways to minimize stress and get this job done right the first time.
Be explicitly clear. The creative department does not know your restaurant menu the way you do. Give clear and concise instructions.
When requesting a dish modification:
1. Attach the menu you need updated into the request form.
2. Write out the menu item completely. Name of dish, description and price are all essential. Example:
"Add to the attached lunch menu: Ten Spiced Wings - house blue cheese, crisp vegetables $16"
